Special Events
Diwali October 2025
We enjoyed exploring how and why Diwali is celebrated; we even learnt a traditional dance.
Art Week October 2025
We explored the 'Retrofuturism' art movement, where people back in the 1960's painted images of what they thought or hoped the future would look like. We used some of these ideas to plan and design our own work which shows what we think the world will look like in 50 years time. To create our pictures we printed a background after making our own printing plate, we then drew our designs on top. We were pleased with our results.
DT Week October 2025
During DT week, we designed, planned and made our own drawstring bags. We had to use back stitch to ensure the hem and drawstring channel of our bags stayed together. Some of us, even added detail by using other stitches or sewing on extra decorations.
Bad Hair Day!
Jamaica Day!
In December 2025, our school held a 'Jamaica Day'! This was to raise awareness and to support people in Jamaica to rebuild after the recent hurricane there. We all wore green, yellow or black and brought in unwanted clothes or shoes which were donated to the Jamaican Hurricane Relief Fund.
Brew and a Book January 2026!
We had a lovely time reading to each other and our parents.
Art Week February 2025
During art week, we explored paintings which were created by impressionist artists. This movement took place during the late 1800's, when the artists weren’t aiming to create a photograph-like painting of what was actually there; instead, they were aiming to give their impression (idea or version) of it. We particularly looked at the work of Monet and used inspiration from this to create our own paintings in the style of impressionism.
Carding Mill Valley Trip March 2026
We had a great time at Carding Mill Valley. We all enjoyed the various activities we did: catching and identifying minibeasts; measuring the speed of the river and a walk around the valley.
World Book Day March 2026!
On World Book Day, we dressed up as a favourite book character and brought in a favourite book to share. We enjoyed completing various book-related tasks and even wrote our own short stories, which we shared with our class.
Learning Showcase March 2026
During our learning showcase we shared work that we have completed this year in Art, History, Science and Geography. We really enjoyed showing our parents our work as well as completing various challenges with them. Thank you to all who were able to come in and share with us.
